Tourists vacationing in Qingdao are in for an extremely pleasant and relaxing holiday in the city where aquamarine seas, sandy beaches, lush greenery and lovely red roofed homes form much of the city's scenery. Considered to be one of the most beautiful places in China, this coastal city lies along the shores of the Yellow Sea in the Shandong Peninsular. One of the most popular activities enjoyed by visitors to the area is strolling through Qingdao's cobbled streets.

The beaches in Qingdao are probably the main attraction of the city. Tourists should definitely visit famous beaches such as the Laoshan Beach and the Old Stone Man Beach. Nearby beach attractions ideal for the whole family to visit include the Qingdao pier, the Qingdao Underwater World and the Polar Ocean World. The pier is a beautiful spot to visit as it makes for a picturesque sight to behold. The Qingdao Underwater World is incredibly fascinating as it allows visitors to enjoy the sight of marine life in their natural habitat. The Polar Ocean World mainly features polar animals like penguins and polar bears, and also puts on a spectacular whale show.

There are also a few museums and historical sites to be visited in Qingdao. History lovers will enjoy visiting the Qingdao Municipal Museum which features interesting exhibits and artwork on ancient and modern day Qingdao. Another historically fascinating site to visit is the German Governor's Residence which features a Bavarian castle. The hillside observatories here not only provide a breathtaking view of the surrounding area, but is also home to interesting historical facts. Families travelling with children should stop in at the Haier Science Museum that is mainly oriented towards younger children.

Other attractions worth a visit in Qingdao include the Tsingtao Brewery where tourists can explore an actual beer bottling plant. There are also some informative exhibits on display for the benefit of visitors to the plant.

A holiday in Qingdao would not be complete without engaging in some shopping at this tourist city.  Travellers looking to pick up some souvenirs and great bargains should shop at the Taidong Pedestrian Street where many street vendors sell a wide range of merchandise. People looking to purchase more up market and branded goods can shop at the famous Jimo Lu Market.
